Reading Ancient Slavery

Ancient Greek and Roman writers found slavery 'good to think with', and modern readers will find this book 'good to think with' too. It follows a similar path, and forms an excellent companion, to collections such as Murnaghan and Joshel's 1998 Women and Slaves in Greco-Roman Culture and Cohen's 2000 Not the Athenian Ideal, examining the way in which slavery was thought about by Greek and Roman artists and authors.
