The Walker Art Center’s Cuban Contemporary Art

Abstract

When it comes to Cuban contemporary artists, people often think of the names Wifredo Lam, Carmen Herrera and Tania Bruguera because their work combines Western abstract art, Latin American artistic traditions and Cuba’s local characteristics. Not only that, many Cuban artists have gained the opportunity to be known to the world because they entered the mainstream western art business platform. In November 2017, an exhibition Adiós Utopia: Art in Cuban Since 1950 at the Walker Art Center in Minnesota, objectively displayed the panoramic view of modern and contemporary art in Cuba and broadened the narrative of Latin American contemporary art.
