Studies of Historical Writings in Byzantine

Abstract

Being the famous historian of the first century AD2, Flavius Josephus is quite admired for his thinking and expression, both of which are likened in this passage to a river which runs smoothly. Being included in the introductory section of a thesis, this striking metaphor is dedicated to Josephus, written by Theodore Metochites, the polymath and highly erudite scholar of the fourteenth century3.
